Rich means we have what we need because we want to be rich to have what we need but being middle class can cover all the maeslow law of needs so we can have alot of money and not be rich. That’s how I see it
Never heard the “rich is a mindset” spiel from the people you spoke about. First impression on the phrase was that it meant “being rich” or “feeling rich” depends on what you value. I could be a billionaire and have unfulfilling relationships, no time to pursue my interest etc. — I wouldn’t feel rich if these other aspects of my life are not there. Consequently, I think I could feel rich being financially stable but having wonderful life experiences with people I care about, doing things I love.
