Thanks for sharing such a great story. I really connected with the emotions of the main character. I went through something similar a while backâfeeling constant pressure at work and not getting the results I wanted. That led to a lot of insecurity, and Iâd often catch myself feeling jealous when I saw posts about other peopleâs achievements and successes.
Eventually, I decided to take a drastic step: I deleted all my social media and cut off access to the kind of content that was feeding those negative feelings. Instead, I started focusing on what I could actually control in my own life. It mightâve been a bit extreme, but honestly, it helpedâand things slowly started to fall into place.
I AM SO FUCKING MAD AT THE FACT I CAN’T EVEN FUCKING FIND A FUCKING JOB! FORGET GAP YEARS HOW ABOUT A GAP DECADE? NOBODY WANTS TO HIRE ME, I HAVE NO PAID EXPERIENCE NO COLLEGE NO CREDENTIALS NO CERTIFICATIONS I SPENT THE ENTIRETY OF MY 20’S BEING A FUCKING LEECH FIRST TO MY PARENTS AND NOW MY SIGNIFICANT OTHERS
I WANT TO BREAK THIS FUCKING CYCLE BUT NOBODY AND I MEAN NOBODY WILL EVEN GIVE ME THE FUCKING TIME OF DAY
IM TOO POOR TO AFFORD COLLEGE
TOO POOR TO AFFORD BASIC TRADE CERTS
TOO POOR TO DO ANYTHING BUT LEECH OFF MY PARTNER FOR SOME SMALL HAPPINESS I CAN AVAIL MYSELF TO
I CAN’T DRIVE EITHER BECAUSE CARS ARE TOO FUCKING EXPENSIVE AND CAN’T GET A LISENCE BECAUSE I HAVE NO CAR. I CAN’T AFFORD A CAR BECAUSE I CAN’T GET A FUCKING JOB. CAN’T FIND ANY LOW EXPERIENCE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES BECAUSE NEARLY 90 FUCKING PERCENT OF THEM REQUIRE “Reliable transportation” WHICH IS RICH FAT FUCK LINGO FOR “DON’T APPLY TO THIS JOB IF YOU’RE A BROKE-ASS BITCH! WHO AIN’T GOT NO CAR HAHAHAHAHAHA”
SO LIKE?????????? WHAT THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO???????? EVEN ENTRY LEVELS WANT EXPERIENCE, THE ONE’S THAT DON’T EXPECT YOU TO ALREADY HAVE A CAR??????????? AND LOW LEVEL EMPLOYMENTS INHERENTLY EXPECT YOU TO BE BILINGUAL BECAUSE THEY EXPECT NEARLY EVERYONE APPLYING TO THEM TO BE MEXICAN
I FLUNKED OUT OF 3 SEMESTERS OF SPANISH. I LITERALLY CANNOT LEARN ANOTHER LANGUAGE!!!!!
AM I RETARDED? SHOULD I JUST FUCKING KILL MYSELF??????? I CAN’T FIND EMPLOYMENT EVEN AT THE MOST BASIC LEVELS AND FEEL LIKE I’M PRACTICALLY UNHIREABLE
MAYBE I SHOULD GO BE HOMELESS FOR A MONTH OR SHOOT UP HEROINE SO I CAN GET HOMELESS CRACKHEAD SUPPORT GROUPS TO HELP ME FIND A JOB BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK TO DO ANYMORE
And sadly… despite writing out that wall of text, I am still left feeling hopeless. Anger doesn’t even bring me catharsis anymore. I just want this cycle of helplessness to end.
Thanks for sharing and we’re really sorry you’re feeling this way. đ
Life can feel extremely unfair sometimes, but please know that you’re not alone. There’s support out there, and things can get better, even if it doesnât feel that way now.
If you feel like you might harm yourself, please talk to someone, whether itâs a mental health professional, a trusted person in your life, or even a helpline. If you’re based in the US, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. It’s free and available 24/7.
We hope youâll give yourself the chance to get the support you need, and we’re rooting for you.
